My name is Kate Moroney and I am 11 years old. I am in 5th class in Kiltallagh National School.

I have had an idea which I brought to the Killorglin Tidy Towns and that was to have our very own Killorglin Earth Hour on 7th February 2015 at 7pm to do our bit to help save the earth.

My idea is to hold a ‘launch’ afternoon (Killorglin Energy Fair) from 3pm – 5pm in St. Michael’s Church Hall. This will show case some alternative ways of making and saving electricity, along with some fun and interesting facts. There will be the WATT Challenge, the SEAI Guzzler, Boyles Hardware and Astellas exhibiting, and lots more too.

Following the Energy Fair, that same evening from 7pm – 8pm, I would like to encourage people to save some energy and switch off their lights, TV or an electrical appliance that isn’t vital for one hour.

The Killorglin Tidy Towns committee have really helped me along with this and have been very supportive.

I am writing to you to see if you could, at home and at work, support the very first Killorglin Energy Fair and Killorglin Earth Hour too.

Please spread the news, come along to our fair and make a plan to SWITCH OFF on our special Saturday evening ‘7pm on the 7th’!

Thank you so much.

Kate
