Fortunately, Kiltallagh National School has been receiving a grant from the Department of Social Protection under the School Meals Scheme since September 2013.
This enables all of our children to avail of free hot, healthy, nutritious lunches that are cooked daily in Tralee by the company SchoolFood4 Primary and delivered to our school in insulated containers-just in time for our main lunch break.
All of the lunch boxes and cutlery are entirely reusable- keeping in line with our commitment to a greener, cleaner environment.
The children order their lunches daily/weekly on an app from a wide and varied menu.
Options include cheesy lasagna, roast chicken, mash, gravy and garden peas, pasta with sun dried tomatoes and sausages and mash to name but a few of the tasty lunches on offer. There is also an extensive vegetarian menu available to choose from.
The lunches are certainly going down a treat with all our pupils. Parents too are delighted with the weekly savings this scheme brings- not to mention that precious twenty minutes in bed on cold winter mornings now that making school lunches is a thing of the past!
